Focused on the study of phenomena involving gas diffusion, gas permeability and gas dissolution in polymers, this session tries to group together part of the scientific community working on these fields and with complementary knowledge. Any research work on relationships between molecular architecture, polymer morphology, amount and type of fillers or nanofillers used in the composition, etc and the diffusion rates as well as amount of gas that can be dissolved in the system is within the topic of this session. New possibilities offered by nanofillers to control the diffusion rates and studies on emerging bioplastics are proposed as hot topics for this session. In addition, the fabrication of microcellular and nanocellular foams via supercritical gas dissolution will be specially considered to promote a scientific forum on these materials.

This special session addresses broad aspects of H-related kinetics in various types of materials. Special attention will be given to accelerated diffusion and phase transitions in metals in hydrogen atmosphere. By bringing to light a variety of phenomena (possibly) caused by hydrogen, e.g. H-embrittlement and peculiar properties of electrodeposited metals, we intend to help clarifying their underlying mechanisms. Other topics of interest include proton conductors, H-kinetics in catalytic reactions on metal surfaces, as well as traditional and most recent problems of H diffusion in bulk and nano materials.
